Short People

One of my older brothers used to delight in singing the song, Short People, to me, or rather, AT me when we were kids.  It would really ruffle my feathers, although I must have liked it deep down... way, WAY down, because now I remember it quite fondly... unless he were to ask...

This piece of tatting is an edging from The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito.  It is #83, tatted in Cebelia #30.  It could quite possibly be the easiest piece of tatting in Tatted Artistry.  It will be my second motif in the 25 Motif Challenge.

I plan to use this edging for a pillowcase for one of the smallest heads in this house.  This little girl SHOULD have a pillow of her very own because she falls fast asleep EVERY time she lays her head down and it is IMPOSSIBLE to wake her up without making her sit up... except if you poke your finger in her eye and pry her eyelid open, but I think that is kinda mean (even IF she is made of plastic)... unlike my two-year-old, Baby Doll...

Other than THAT, Baby Doll really IS a sweet little short person, and I'm SO glad she's 'round here.

Oh Yah! Randy Newman! Your post brought an immediate nostalgic smile to my face - one of my faves from long ago.

Love the edging. It will be sweet on a pillowcase. Not so easy to get all those threads the same length... Nice work, Ann!

Hey, I resemble that remark! That book is on my 'must buy' list, too.

You are so funny, Ann -- it's nice to start the day with a laugh.

When I told Emily how I liked to ride my bike behind the DDT truck, and her dad liked to chew the warm tar they used to resurface his street, her response was "No wonder I'm so short!"

That's a sweet little piece of tatting and I agree with Fox -- it must be challenging to make get all those threads just right and your look perfect. With such a nice pillowcase to sleep on, your dolly will have even more trouble waking up.

Hi Fox!
I like Randy Newman very much also - in fact, my husband found one of his albums today in a used record store. Yeah, those threads are kind of hard to keep even - thanks for the encouragement!

Krystle and Steph,
I never outgrew my shortness either. I guess it's never going to happen, huh?

Martha, I laughed pretty hard myself when I read your comment! Did you guys REALLY do that?! Emily's lucky she's just short! If this pillowcase works on the doll, I'm going to make one for my two-year-old next!

:) Ann
