It's The Details That Count

A stylized shot of what's currently in my hands... I've a few details left to add. I'll have to pick up a crochet hook and act like I know how to use it for its intended purpose... that shouldn't be so hard... right?

That is a beautiful photo -- I am wondering how you did that effect and what you are going to do with that crochet hook.

Thanks Martha!
I used a filter called paper cut out in Adobe Photoshop - I LOVE to play with photos in that program.

I hardly know what I am going to do with that crochet hook! My experience is limited to one super easy chain about 25 years ago. I am going to ATTEMPT a couple of rows of stitches which will look like a ladder kind of.

Wish me luck!

Very, very cool! Love the colors and the combination of shapes with the tatting! SO pretty! :)

I'm so excited I just got myself Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 Premier and still haven't learned how to use it yet, but when I do...watch out!!! LOL! Just kidding. ;)

Hey there Tatting Chic!
You are one step ahead of me - I have Elements 6. I have been an Adobe junkie for about 10 years now. If I can ever help you, I'd be glad to! It's all in the layers... once you figure those out you can do lots of fun stuff. I once put my son and his friend on the back of a HUGE bee - they LOVED it because they were both buggy boys!

Effects or no effects, I am intrigued by the clear plastic.... What IS that? Of course, if you feel I am not responsible enough to be told about this shuttle, because of certain... ah... incidents in the past, I will totally understand....

Oh that made me laugh Fox! Are you saying that when you walk into a room tatters should hold their shuttles a little closer?

I'll live dangerously and tell you about my Tatsy. It is the 4.5" shuttle in clear plastic and holds a TON of thread (122 yards of #20 according to the insert). The size took a bit of getting used to, but now it seems normal to me (I picked up a clover last night and felt like an AMAZON). I thought it would be great for edgings because of the amount of thread it can hold.

Hi Ann,
Thanks for the tip. I've heard that about the layering, before. I am taking classes from www.lynda.com so there is a section on Layering, but I am not there, yet, LOL! I will take you up on the help if I need it! Your photo with you boys on the bee sounds cute.
Oh, I've heard there's not a HUGE difference between Photoshop Elements 6 and 7 so I think you're not missing out on much. I just got 7 because there was a FABULOUS sale on Amazon and the Photoshop was only about 50 bucks after the rebate....THE REBATE! I better get jamming on that because I forgot all about it and I think there's an expirations date on it! Thanks for reminding me, LOL!

Hi Tatting Chic!
It helps very much in doing effects such as putting the boys on the bee to have vibrant green walls in one's family room! I had my son sit on our ottoman like it was a horse with his arm raised like the rodeo cowboys. When I brought the photo into Adobe I zapped the green background with the magic wand tool and put him on the back of the bee with his friend. He has also enjoyed pizza with Scooby and the gang!

These days I use it mostly for cropping and fixing the light or color balance of a photo. I hope you like it. I started out with a free copy of Photoshop 2 which came with my scanner and I was hooked!

4.5"!!!! There is a much too high a risk of impaling myself on something that large! I am staying away..... staying away... : ) Fox

HA! I think the real risk with this shuttle is a blow to the head. It's got a lot of heft when it is fully loaded. Then I'm one fumble away from being knocked senseless... or perhaps have some sense knocked into me... depending on who you talk to...

Hi Ann, I have had the free version of Adobe Photoshop (elements 2.0) for years, too. I just never thought I'd have the money for the better ones. I really never got that hooked on it and I want to do more now that I got that newer Photoshop in my hot little hands, LOL! Well, your experiences sound inspiring. The photo of your son with Scooby and the Gang sounds adorable! You are very talented with it, too! I have done some cartoonizing with and watercoloring with tatted photos and showed them on my blog, but yours are AWESOME!

Have fun playing Tatting Chic! I have stumbled upon tools and effects just messing around. That's the way I learn I guess. I have a friend who also had 2.0 but never cared for it until I showed her the "ways of Photoshop". Have I ever mentioned that I am a short, green, pointy-eared person who speaks in riddles?
