Out, Damned Spot!

While I LOVE Mary Konior's book, Tatting With Visual Patterns, this edging turned me into a CRAZED LUNATIC - or - maybe just a snappish mother.  Downright feisty.  It was time for it (meaning the photocopy I made to carry in my purse, not the book for goodness sake) to go out with the rubbish and the banana peel my oldest tossed on it right after this photo was snapped prevented me from having any second thoughts...

Good thing I didn't toss my shuttles in the bin as well, because these arrived on my doorstep later in the day.  Tatting from Burda and A Tatter's Workbook, as well as bobbins which I hope will fit my Pop-A-Bobbin shuttles.  What BEAUTIFUL books!  I love having something new to peruse!  That for me is "such stuff as dreams are made on."

Giggle giggle... that story about the rubbish? I can certainly relate!

That Burda book looks intriguing... One I do not have and have wondered about. What's it like?

The bobbins are a great fit in the P.O.B.'s. Good for you to get a bunch of extras!

Ha! I tried that pattern when I was considering an edging for my daughter's wedding hanky... I know exactly how you feel!

I hope you love your new books as much as I do. The edging I decided on is #2 from A Tatter's Workbook... super easy!

Good Save from the litter bin. I have the Tatter's Workbook, too. It is a very interesting book.

I think we have all had a kid or someone who has settled us on a piece of work that was giving us headaches to be able to do. Trust me. But I'm thrilled to hear that you got your books later the day. Now you can work on other things & when the time is right, you can do that piece again (that got banana peeled)& the next time it will work out. For the time will be right for you to make it. Just breath & know that others have to walk alway from time to time in such sitautions.

Oooh - I HATE those frustrating pieces that end up in the trash! But, better to call it a day and focus on something else for awhile. I bet when you go back to it, it will flow the way it's supposed to!

Nice new book! I just got that Mary Konior book I've been seeing all the beautiful tatting from - including your lupine roll-tatting that I'm afraid may find me photographing my trash pieces :(

Good tip on the extra bobbins - now I just need one of those elusive shuttles!

I love it that you're not one of those uppity tatter bloggers that only show their successful pieces, like that's the only type of work they ever create. Well...actually, I don't know if there are any tatter bloggers like this, but I like to imagine there are....and you aren't one of them!

Seriously, I enjoy so much watching your progress -- realizing that in tatting, as well as quilting, every project has challenges. Occasionally these problems are insurmountable, and one just needs a fresh start.
