(Anniversary by Mary Konior, from Tatting With Visual Patterns,
#5 for the 25 Motif Challenge)
"Excuse me, is that tatting?"
"Yes it is!" I turned and replied to the nice, smiling, lady.
"My mother-in-law is crafty and she can tat. I can't tat, but I can crochet," she continued.
"That's funny because I can't CROCHET, but I can tat!" I laughed. I was already taking a liking to this person. We seemed to have a bit in common, what with an appreciation for fiber arts and both of us winding up in this particular bar on this particular night.
"I can't believe anyone who can do THAT, wouldn't be able to learn crochet!" It was her turn to laugh.
But that is where our brief, crafting encounter ended at the bar, because an Apple Genius came and snagged my new acquaintance away from me to discuss the repairs on her computer and then my name was called so I could talk to my own Genius about the state of my iMac's hard drive.
I hope her talk went better than mine...

Ha! And I thought you'd end up teaching each other your respective crafts over a martini! Not that kind of bar, huh?
Clever! You had me going there for a minute. Sorry to read about your Mac... I hope it gets well soon. I'd be lost without mine.
I love that edging... another item on my "to do" list!
Oh Gina! I like YOUR ending to the story, MUCH better than mine.
I was SO lost without the Mac for five days! When I was at the Genius Bar getting it checked out, I kept saying to myself, "Just don't cry, it IS a computer!" It's kind of scary how technology dependent I have become. Before we got this computer I rarely got on the internet, now I even check the radar and temperature online to plan my walks!

Hey....I've been alone and sewing at that bar before. I hope they were able to successfully repair your Mac -- at least you got some work done. Love that edging, but now you'll need to make a matching nightie for the real Baby Doll.
Well, I wish I could've met up with YOU at the Genius Bar, Martha! I'd show up even if my computer were in working order! Everything seems to be running fine now and we have a bigger hard drive, so hopefully we're up and running for a while.
Thanks, I like the edging also, but may opt for something a little simpler. I've been planning a pillowcase dress/nightie for the doll as practice for one for Baby Doll, but true to form, I've been over thinking it a bit... It'll get there though.

And I was wondering how you could possibly tat with the dim lighting at a bar . . . LOL. Glad you got your Mac back - it's hard to have an unplanned technology cleanse!
Hi Cindy! Yep, the lighting is pretty good at that bar. With all the white on the walls and displays, it's like being inside an Ott light! There were a few people who could have used a stout drink from the other kind of bar though.

Love the edging - need a new one for 'The Lamp'. The white one got all discloured, I suspect form the hot bulb. I cannot get it really white, no matter what I use to wash it.
when I read about you being in a bar, I had to re-read the post a few times. Could not get my head around you there...LOL!
Yes, clever!
Fox : )
Hey Fox!
I was just messing with 'ya! I was at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store getting the computer fixed. They call the people who work in that part of the store Genius's. Gives you kind of lofty expectations! lol

Clever minx, you had me going too, thought you were sipping a cocktail until your table was ready at a restaurent.
Sorry that you needed Apple Genius advice. Crossing my fingers that your "Mac" repair isn't too costly.
And what a pretty edging! Big hugs to you for tatting in public. That baby doll will certainly be finely attired.
