Here is my Day 1 of Jane Eborall's TIAS (Tat It and See). This will be a fun way to bust up the winter doldrums! Jane gives wonderful, detailed instructions and her creative use of thread AMAZES me!
For me the most challenging aspects of Day 1 were hiding my beginning threads and split rings. Tatting over my beginning threads isn't my strong suit, but if Jane says to do it - by golly, I'm going to! She gave great instructions on how to accomplish this, but it also helped me to refer to Gina, The Tatting Goddess's video tutorial. Sometimes I have to read about it, look at a picture AND see someone do it to figure a thing out. Apparently I can be VERY needy!
That accomplished, I turned to the split rings and realized it had been SOOOO long since I did one that I couldn't remember ANYTHING about it other than making my hand look like a dead spider. So I refreshed my memory with Jon's split ring tutorial and relearned what to do after I had my hand playing dead.
Now I'm looking forward to Day 2. I have a feeling this will be QUITE fun and just hope that I can keep up!
Ann,
ReplyDeleteThose looke pretty darn good!
I am a wee bit jealous! Look a the time... so late. I am in the last half of the TAT thing and cannot do another tat thing too. I am tatterly monogamous!
Maybe I'll tune in later. Enjoy the ride with Jane and the gang... it sure looks fun!
Fox : )
Hi Fox!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope I can hang in there and make it through.
I admire your commitment to the TAT - you are SO close to finishing!
:) Ann
How very true on watching a tutorial. I am lucky that I have a really great friend Carol (carol's little treasures) who taught me that lives right down the road. When I'm not sure about something she will show me with her shuttle and thread. I am then able to get it. Have fun with TIAS. Have a Happy Day!
ReplyDeleteHi Rayanna!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you and Carol can get together and tat. It sounds like a fun way to learn!

Oh, I love the thread you're using. I'd like to play along, but wait....I haven't learned how to tat yet.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to be able to access an instructional video whenever you want -- it's not as nice as having a friend show you a how to do something, but that friend might not be willing to come over at midnight to help you with some little technique that is causing you fits.
Hi Martha!
ReplyDeleteThe variegated thread is called Jelly Beans - how fun is that? I've seen a number of people using it and HAD to have some!
I notice you say you haven't learned to tat "YET." I'll not say more except, no I wouldn't be able to come over at midnight to help, but if you email at midnight, I'll email back. Except we're talking central midnight, so maybe the videos are still the best option at pacific midnight. :)
