If You Go Down in the Woods Today...
You're sure of a big surprise --- but not because of picnicking teddy bears! OH NO, the woods I wandered today had tatted motifs CLINGING to the trees like monarchs in the woods of Mexico!! There were THOUSANDS of them in a STUNNING array of colors, shapes and sizes!!!
OR... it COULD be that I was actually just traipsing through my soggy backyard where there are a COUPLE of trees... and quite possibly this was the ONLY motif hugging either of them and then ONLY for the space of a shutter's blink... a girl can dream though... and if you're gonna dream, you might as well make it a DOOZY!
For this motif I used Cebelia #10. It is the "Pink Coaster" pattern from Big Book of Tatting by Darlene Polachic. An ant kindly climbed aboard for size comparison purposes... I "thanked" him later...
SURE it looks like a quiet, demure, unassuming motif NOW, but I hope in the coming days to release its inner wild child! Wish me luck...
LOL! Good lead in! The motif is perfect too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gina!

Very, very cute post! Your tatting is lovely and the thought of a forest of trees with tatting on them is even lovelier!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tatting Chic! I would LOVE to spend time in that forrest! Perhaps instead of vines, the trees could be DRAPED in beautiful edgings... it would be fun to see Tarzan swinging on those!

Hi Ann,
ReplyDeleteYour stitches are looking pretty in pinkly perfect!! Well done!
Fox : )
You always find the perfect background to display your tatting -- and the image of little motifs pinned to all the trees is pretty cool. Hmm...it may be called "pink coaster," but that looks like a perfect little wreath to me. I'm curious -- about how long does it take to make a cute design like this?
ReplyDeleteThank you Fox! Thank you Martha!
ReplyDeleteMartha - This is a very simple motif, just rings and chains, so it goes together pretty quickly... but I'm not sure HOW quickly! I really only get to tat in small bursts. This one I did entirely in the car or out waiting somewhere. Also, I'm not a fast tatter - if there was tatting on the playground, I would be the last one chosen for a team!
I'll get back to you though. I'm curious also so I will try to come up with a guesstimate.
:) Ann
How cool would that be!! Funny post!! Great job on the motif too!!
